The Yuba County Jail Inmate Roster is a public resource that allows anyone to check who is currently in custody at the county jail in the state of California. The website YubaCourt.us provides publicly accessible information about current and recently released inmates. The official search tool is also available on the Yuba County Sheriff's-Coroner's Department website. In addition to online searches, information can be obtained by phone by contacting the jail or in person at the facility's lobby. The roster is maintained by the Sheriff's-Coroner's Department and reflects individuals in custody at the time of the request. Data is updated regularly throughout the day.
Search Current Inmates in Yuba Jail
There are several ways to check if a specific person is in custody at the Yuba County Jail.
Online Search
- Visit the Inmate Search page on the county's official website.
- Enter the person's last name in the appropriate field. The first name can usually be added to narrow down the results.
- If the booking number is known, use it — it is the fastest way to find a specific record.
- Review the results. Each record contains basic information: name, booking date, charges, and custody status.
To search for court cases related to criminal charges, use the Online Case Access portal of the Yuba County Superior Court. Links to publicly available records are also collected at YubaCourt.us.
Juvenile offenders are not displayed in the public roster.
By Phone
Call the jail and provide the person's full legal name. The operator will confirm if they are in custody.
In Person
Visit the jail lobby during business hours. The information window serves visitors who want to learn about an inmate's status.
General county administrative hours: Monday — Friday, 8:00 AM — 5:00 PM. It is recommended to call ahead to confirm the jail lobby's hours.
Find Yuba Jail Booking Records Online
A booking record is created each time a person is admitted to the jail. The booking process includes recording personal information, photographing, fingerprinting, and registering charges.
A typical booking record contains:
- A unique booking number
- Date and time of admission
- Charges filed
- Arresting agency (sheriff, city police, or other agency)
- Bail amount, if set
Current records are available through the online inmate search tool on the sheriff's website. This is the fastest way to verify a booking.
If you need an official copy of the record or documentation not displayed in the online roster, contact the Sheriff's Records Unit:
For individuals transferred to California state facilities, there is a separate resource — the California Incarcerated Records & Information Search (CIRIS) by CDCR. If the person is no longer in the county jail and you suspect a transfer, this tool will help.
Search the Yuba Jail Roster by Last Name or Booking Number
The roster supports two main search methods.
Search by Last Name
Enter the last name in Latin letters exactly as it may be recorded in official documents. Double surnames, hyphens, and apostrophes sometimes cause discrepancies — try variations in spelling if the first query yields no results. Adding the first name narrows the list, but if you are unsure of the correct spelling of the first name, leave the field empty and review all records with the corresponding last name.
Search by Booking Number
This method returns a single exact result. The booking number is usually known to the attorney, bail bondsman, or relatives who were informed during the first contact with the inmate.
If the Search Yields No Results
- Check the spelling — even one letter matters.
- The person may have already been released, and the record has disappeared from the active roster.
- The booking may not yet be completed — there is a certain time between arrest and appearance in the system.
- If the arrest was made by city police, the record may temporarily reside in their system. Contact Yuba City Police Records Services at 530-822-2064.
- Call the jail directly — the operator can confirm the status even before the record appears online.
Jail Roster Updates and Search Limitations in Yuba
The inmate roster is updated throughout the day, but this does not happen instantly. Between the actual admission of a person to the jail and their appearance in the online database, it can take from a few minutes to several hours — depending on staff workload and the complexity of the booking process.
Key limitations to be aware of:
- Publication delay. Night and weekend arrests may only appear in the system the next business day.
- Disappearance of records after release. The roster only shows those currently in custody. After release, transfer, or posting bail, the record is removed from the public list.
- No archive. The online tool is not a database of all past bookings. To obtain historical records, a request must be submitted to the Sheriff's Records Unit.
- Data entry errors. Sometimes a last name is recorded incorrectly, or an alternative spelling is used — this can complicate the search.
To check information about court hearings or criminal cases after booking, use the court calendar of the Yuba County Superior Court. Information about inmate services, including reintegration programs, is available on a separate page of the sheriff's website.
